Kylie Gonzalez was crowned Miss Monogram 2023 in front of the enthusiastic crowd that came out Saturday afternoon despite the threat of rain to watch the Vineland High School football team take on the Egg Harbor Township Eagles. The Fighting Clan went on to overtake the Eagles with an impressive 38-0 win.
The festivities kicked off with the annual Homecoming Parade down Landis Avenue. Led by district and high school administrators, Board of Education members, and the VHS Marching Clan and cheerleaders, the parade made its way down Landis Avenue to Gittone Stadium just in time for kick off. Also showing off their VHS pride were several athletic teams, clubs, the Class and Student Government Association floats and, of course, the Miss Monogram contestants.
Due to the impending rain, the crowning of Miss Monogram was held prior to kickoff this year. Winner was Gonzalez, escorted by Yoan Feliz. Her court included first runner-up Kelianne Burgess escorted by Anthony Gonzalez; second runner-up Nicoletta Giuliani, escorted by Jeremy Flores; third runner-up Morgan Harrell Alvarez, escorted by Tynasia Clark; and fourth runner-up Caryeen Hughes-Alves, escorted by Raniyah Henry. The contestants received their sashes, flowers, and trophies from members of district central administration, Board of Education members, and VHS administrators. SGA advisors are Jennifer and Jamie Lapsley.
