Kindergarten students in Ms. Kreck's library class at Mennies Elementary School celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by exploring the vibrant culture of Mexico. Ms. Kreck read them a story, showed them where Mexico is on the map, and displayed the Mexican flag. The students then colored their own Mexican flags, which are now proudly displayed at the school entrance. Mennies is excited to continue honoring Hispanic Heritage Month!

Last week, Mrs. Myerson's first graders began their introduction to Science! It started with a Walking Water experiment that got the students curious and mesmerized! We made predictions, drew what we observed, and discussed how the water “walked” from cup to cup. Throughout the rest of the week, we decorated our Science folders, learned about the scientific method, got a glimpse into the three types of science units we will be studying this year, and finally, we wrote about how we can all be scientists!

Students at Little Lamb Preschool had the opportunity to enjoy an apple press presentation by farmers Eric and Aaron from Quiver Farm in PA. The students saw how to press apples to make delicious apple cider. They also were able to enjoy live animals on school property, including a donkey, piglet, four rabbits, and two ducks. They also learned that once the cider is made, the remainder of the apples are fed to the animals on the farm.

Come out and support our district Safety Patrol at their annual breakfast on November 2!

On September 25th, during all lunch periods, Vineland High School Asselta students had the opportunity to speak with Ms Morris (School Social Worker) and/or a RAFT counselor about available mental health resources to youth in Cumberland County. Additionally, students were provided resources to practice mindfulness and how they could be a "life saver" to someone in need preventing suicide by calling 988 or the 2nd Floor hotline.

Mrs. Murie’s class at D'Ippolito Elementary School celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day! They read the tall tale, taste-tested different apples, and wrote lists of “juicy words” to describe the apples.

Students in Ms. Silva’s first-grade classroom at Winslow celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day with some hands-on learning from exploring the parts of an apple, apple tasting, and graphing!

Students at Winslow have been introduced to a new positive behavior incentive program through their work with Rutgers and planning around PBSIS. Our school motto, "We All Swim Together," connects with our school-wide expectations of respect, responsibility, kindness, and acceptance. Students receive tickets for displaying "Whaley Fin-tastic Behavior" according to these expectations. We are whaley proud of our students who have been recognized so far!

First-grade students in Mrs. Nonnemacher’s class at Petway are learning to count by twos, fives, and tens. In this activity, the students are practicing their excellent math skills by working together to count by tens. Using flashcards and taking turns reading the numbers to each other, they are engaging in hands-on learning, making progress toward their goal while enjoying the process.

Kindergarten students at Mennies Elementary School have officially started small group instruction, and they are thriving! While some students work independently in groups with hands-on reading and math materials, the classroom teacher and aide are pulling groups to focus on key skills such as letters, sounds, and rhyming. The students are fully engaged and loving the opportunity to dive into the curriculum! It’s exciting to see them embrace learning in such an interactive way.

This week at Winslow, students were able to enjoy lunch with their grandparents to celebrate Grandparent's Day! Our lunch rooms were filled with smiling faces and happy hearts. Students even enjoyed shopping at our book fair with their families.

At Mennies Elementary School, Mrs. Ludlam and Mrs. Uebelacker's 5th grade ELA classes are working on Wonder Graffiti posters. Each poster contains a quote related to the novel that the students will be starting to read. The students had to create graffiti art related to the quote and how it made them feel. Many students also decorated their posters with art related to their quotes! It was a creative way for students to connect to their upcoming novel.

Kindergarteners in Miss Perry's Room 30 Celebrate Johnny Appleseed! 🍏🍎
Today, our little learners in Room 30 at Winslow Elementary School explored the world of Johnny Appleseed in creative and exciting ways! Their favorite part? Apple stamping! Our students showed such responsibility and teamwork while sharing and waiting for their turn to stamp their apples with the paint color of their choice. After the paint dried, they added seeds, stems, and leaves to their apples, making each one unique.
But that wasn’t all! They also dove into the life cycle of an apple, learned all about Johnny Appleseed’s incredible life, and discovered the importance of giving back to others, just like Johnny did. To top it off, students enjoyed taste-testing different types of apples, voting on their favorite, and enjoying some fun stories about the man himself, Johnny Appleseed. What a day filled with learning, laughter, and apples!

Students at both Dallago locations had a chance to enjoy Drum2BFit as their first school assembly for the 2024-2025 school year!
Students not only enjoyed drumming, singing, and dancing to music but also worked on gross motor skills and keeping a beat at the same time!
This is an assembly that receives great reviews from students AND teachers!
The smiling faces show that this is an assembly that we will keep bringing back.
