Yesterday students from Ms Armanini’s class and Ms D’Augustine’s class went on a Community Based Instruction outing to ShopRite. The program includes skills to safely and appropriately use community resources. Students were given a shopping list and were able to identify the items and prices within the store and then place the items in the shopping cart. Students completed pre and post activities as well!

If your student happened to miss getting their picture taken on October 10th and 11th, make up pictures are this Monday, November 20th . They will take place first thing in the morning. Attached is picture pricing, but you don't need to send money that day. All orders take place after pictures are done with a QR code that is given to students.

Mrs. English recently attended a district workshop on the program CANVA - she learned how to create an awesome classroom newsletter! She decided to create one including recent activities that have happened in her Science room at Sgt. Pilla Middle School. Students investigated the breakdown of rocks, they also created Candy Corn Catapults investigating physics, elastic energy and more on Halloween. Today, in accordance with state law, Pilla Middle School conducted a security drill in the manner that we conduct all emergency drills, with seriousness and with sensitivity to our students and staff. Students in Ms. Super’s 6th and 7th grade language arts classes wrote letters to be delivered to the veteran home in Vineland this weekend on the 11th. They learned the background of Veterans Day and wrote letters in hopes of brightening the day of the veterans who receive the letters. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸 #PillaProud #ThankYouVeterans
Good afternoon Pilla parents. This is just a reminder that school is closed Tuesday, November 7th through Friday, November 10th. Classes will resume on Monday, November 13th.
Miss Welden’s ELA classes enjoyed an incentive day filled with board games and fun as a reward for completing their Summer Reading projects before the deadline. Students played classics like Chess, Jenga and Sorry! In addition to the incentive day, students had their names entered into a drawing to win a pair of air pods.

Eighth grade students in Mrs. Russo and Ms. Dean's science classes along with Mrs. Russo's period 6 science class created and presented a project on plate tectonics. Students selected a site to research. Some examples of sites included the San Andreas Fault, Yellowstone National Park, Hawaii and the Horn of Africa. Students created a google slideshow of their plate tectonic research along with pictures of the site and diagrams.
Today students in Miss Armanini's class focused on the Communication portion of
the Portrait of a Graduate.
Students listened to the read aloud, “A Little Spot of Feelings.” Students were able to recognize their emotions and inner feelings. Students then chose a feeling spot that resonates with them. They created their spot and wrote about it too!
Pilla is holding a non-perishable food drive from Nov 1st-17th. Donations can be dropped off to the boxes in the cafeteria. Thank you for supporting those less fortunate in our community! #pillaproud
