Fourth graders at Rossi Elementary have been studying Ancient Greek culture and their mythology. The students read different myths, learning about themes, allusions, and how Ancient Greece has contributed to the world today. They wrapped up their mythology unit with a Going Greek Party. The students were able to dress as Ancient Greeks and mythological characters. Students were also given the opportunity to try some traditional Greek food. What a great way to end a wonderful unit that was linked to reading and history.

Students in Ms. Dubois’ Kindergarten class and Ms. Smith’s 4th grade class at Petway teamed up during Read Across America Week, displaying their character traits of teamwork, perseverance, and integrity during a book buddy activity.
Students first listened to the story, Fox in Socks, written by Dr. Seuss. The students were then grouped together, where they worked to create unique, mismatched socks. Students were able to hang their artwork both in the 4th grade and Kindergarten wings of the school for all to see. 🧦

Students at Little Lamb helped promote American Heart Month for February today. Students learned the importance of exercising their bodies to care for their heart. They participated in a school-wide march around the flagpole, along with stretches and a warm-up. Students did jumping jacks & jump rope heels to elevate their heart rate. They listened to the upbeat cultural music while following the rhythm pattern of their heartbeat, ❤️ boom-boom, boom-boom. ❤️ Staff encouraged the students and guided them through the exercises collectively. At the end of the presentation, students were reminded to continue to take care of their bodies through daily exercise and nutrition.

The DiBiase Preschool P4 students who will be headed to Kindergarten next year were able to get a sneak peek of what "Big School" is like at Anthony Rossi Elementary School. Once there, we were welcomed and given the grand tour! We got to visit a Kindergarten class where we were able to see some of our friends from last year, and we visited the library and the cafeteria and got to ride the bus! We are super excited to go to Kindergarten now!

Students at DiBiase Preschool enjoyed a great workout with Drum to be Fit this week! Our preschoolers moved and grooved to the beat of their drums while listening to music! What a great way to exercise on a cold and gloomy day!

221 Mennies students earned Magnet Club Status for the 2nd marking period! They celebrated with a Minute-To-Win-It Event on Friday. Students participated in several events and challenges. Then, they danced to end the event.
Magnet Club students worked hard to earn A's and B's, no more than four unexcused absences/lates/early-outs, and no conduct referrals during the marking period.
We are very proud of our magnet members!

Students in Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Bonsall's classes at Rossi Elementary School buddied up to learn all about Ramadan from Ms. Seyma Akisler, a fellow Rossi staff member. Ms. Akisler taught the classes all about Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the holy month of fasting. We learned the start of Ramadan changes each year because of the lunar Islamic calendar that follows the phases of the moon. They learned that after sundown, Muslims break their fast with iftar, which starts with a prayer and dates or water, followed by dinner. The students later tasted dates.

In honor of Kindness Week, students at Little Lamb thanked our police officers for protecting us and keeping us safe. Thank you to Officer Felice and Officer Burris for your service to our school and community. In addition, students also drew cards and thank you letters to our Nurses. Thank you to Mrs. Jolie Goldacker for coming in and reminding us to make healthy habits with eating and taking care of our growing bodies.

During Black History Month, Mrs. Freese and Mrs. Tarsatana’s class at Mennies Elementary School learned about inspiring figures who helped bring about important change. They also put together a timeline to showcase the people the studied throughout the school year and their contributions.

Last week, students from Gloria M. Sabater School who participate in the Family Friendly Center After School program painted rocks donated from Cumberland County Rocks! Their goal was to spread joy and kindness throughout their community. After carefully decorating the rocks, they placed them in parks, on sidewalks, and outside local businesses, hoping to brighten someone's day. This thoughtful act of spreading positivity not only brought smiles to those who found the rocks but also strengthened the bond between the school and its neighbors, reminding everyone of the power of small acts of kindness.
