On Halloween, Mrs. Norton and Ms. DeRosa’s kindergarten class at Winslow School joined Miss Perry’s class for a fun-filled pumpkin carving experience! 🎃 Students watched as Miss Perry demonstrated each step of carving a pumpkin, with Mrs. Norton helping guide the activity. Everyone had a blast scooping out the pumpkin insides – some brave kiddos even used their hands, while others opted for a spoon!
Before diving in, we made predictions on how many seeds might be inside and ended our autumn adventure by tasting freshly roasted pumpkin seeds. Such a memorable way to celebrate the season together! 🍂
The year is off to a great start with the Pilla Panthers! Students in Ms. Morgan’s PLTW class have been busy designing and experimenting.
The sixth graders in Design and Modeling explore the design process by building a foot orthosis and designing and launching air skimmers.
The 7th and 8th graders have been exploring the Science of Technology. They are experimenting with the science of making ice cream, making glue, a simulation of cleaning up an oil spill, and exploring nanotechnology and what it means for our products in the future.

On October 2nd, the VHS AFJROTC launched Operation Linville Falls, an initiative inspired by Cadet Austin Conrad’s heartfelt letter describing the hardships faced by residents In the North Carolina town of Linville Falls, as well as other nearby communities of Spruce Pine, Newland, Elk Park, and Chimney Rock. These towns were devastated by Hurricane Helene, leaving many citizens without homes, electricity, heat, and essential supplies.
Air Force Junior ROTC Unit N.J, 20091, Commanded by Cadet Colonel Erin Shipman, convened a staff meeting with Cadet Corps leadership to discuss Conrad’s letter and the dire situation. With the approval of AFJROTC Senior Instructor Master Sergeant Jim Eubanks and VHS administrators, the project was set in motion. Cadet Shipman designed flyers, while Cadets Aiden Martinez, Miguel Rodriguez, and Miana Arrocho prepared donation boxes to be placed in the school office for students and staff to contribute supplies. Cadet Greg Colon briefed all flights to inform cadets about the drive.
On October 11th, Cadets Joseph Monnata and Cynthia Zavala inventoried items and made a list of what they had so far on that day. On October 16th, Cadets Christian Van Osten, Miguel Rodriguez, and Erika Robinson participated in an interview with VPS Public Affairs director Gia Messore to spread the operation to the public. The following day, October 17th, Cadet Leadership, under the direction of AFJROTC instructor JoDenise Muller, unloaded donated items for local organizations. Cadets Cynthia Zavala-Beneat and Erika Robinson organized, packed, and labeled the boxes. Later that day, Cadets Shipman, Van Osten, and Conrad returned to load a 16-foot trailer with over 10,000 pounds of cargo. An update on this operation is that all supplies were distributed to all six towns.
Through the dedicated teamwork of the entire unit, Operation Linville Falls was a huge success for VHS AFJROTC.
On October 19th, VHS AFJROTC was in the homecoming parade. They marched from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church parking lot to Gittone stadium. They had their Color Guard, Saber Team, and a flight of 42 cadets participate in the Parade. The parade ended with the color guard presenting the colors on the field.

In Graphic Design 3 at Vineland High School, students dove into advanced techniques to reimagine iconic movie posters with a fresh, creative twist. They carefully preserved essential elements like the original title, actor names, and key captions, ensuring each poster stayed true to its source. Drawing from classic spooky-season films—Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, and Hocus Pocus—students explored methods for capturing mood, composition, and visual storytelling. This project encouraged them to think critically about design elements such as color, typography, and image manipulation, pushing them to blend originality with homage.
Pictured are Athena Gonzalez with her Beetlejuice poster and Brandon Harrell with his Ghostbusters poster.
Anatomy and Physiology students at Vineland High School have recently completed their Histology unit focused on tissues. They will now be progressing to the Integumentary system (skin). In the spirit of Halloween, we incorporated a hands-on activity creating various types of open wounds. The students are enthusiastic about delving into their new unit of study!
We’re excited to announce the winners of this month’s “Rowdy’s Golden Class” award at Vineland High School!
Congratulations to Ms. Smith's 3rd Period Class from the VHS Asselta Building and Ms. Bertonozzi and Koering's 6th Period Class from the VHS Tanner Building for embodying the Portrait of a Graduate traits and fostering inclusive, collaborative learning environments.
The "Rowdy's Golden Class" award encourages teachers to nominate their standout classes or classes that exemplify the Portrait of a Graduate traits, including communication, empathy, critical thinking, perseverance, adaptability, and responsibility.
The awards are part of the VHS Rock the Roost program, which helps promote good behavior and create a positive school environment. Congratulations to the winners!
Mrs. Trionfo and Ms. Vinnick’s 4th and 5th grade Garden Club at Rossi School honored Hispanic Heritage Month by learning about Día de los Muertos and its beautiful traditions. Using marigolds planted in spring, students discovered how these vibrant flowers are essential in creating ofrendas to honor loved ones. Fourth graders painted rocks in festive colors to border the display, while 5th-grade students painted sugar skulls and brought in pictures of loved ones, paying close attention to every detail. It was a meaningful way to connect with culture, nature, and family memories! 🌼
Miss Perry’s class at Winslow Elementary School ventured outside to explore and gather autumn treasures like acorns and pinecones. Back in the classroom, students eagerly sorted and counted their collections, then practiced writing addition equations to show their total pieces — an exciting new skill they’re learning! The enthusiasm and "whaley" excellent behavior our young learners displayed made for a fun, successful, hands-on math experience!
The Vineland Education Association, through a PEP grant, hosted a Dallago Preschool Halloween Door Dash on Friday, October 25th, in an effort to bring a safe trick-or-treat event to our students. Over 230 students and their family members were in attendance, including Vineland Education Association member volunteers.
Students were invited to wear their Halloween costumes as they enjoyed going door to door around the Preschool to fill their bags with goodies and manipulatives. Social-emotional activities were provided for students and their families, including a make-your-own pumpkin face sticker craft, a create-your-own pumpkin expression foam craft, and social-emotional squish pumpkins for stress relief. Additionally, healthy snacks and water were provided, as well as social-emotional books and promotional items for every child and family.
As part of the Vineland Education Association PEP grant, all Dallago students received a copy of a social-emotional book, including the titles: I Need a Hug - Necesito un Abrazo or The Feelings Book - El Libro de los Sentimientos.
Children’s faces lit up seeing teachers in costume and handing out goodies. Families and students were smiling ear to ear and a great time was had by all.
Little Lamb preschool students and staff “Rocked the Pumpkin” in their Fall Costumes during their Annual Fall Fest. This parent engagement activity allowed students to parade around the school with parents and their teachers to various stations, receiving special treats. Students ended their morning by dancing with their families around the flagpole!
Spirit & Truth Ministries/Vineland Soup Kitchen is holding a Chicken Fundraiser this holiday season. Tickets are $15 for a platter that includes 1/2 rotisserie chicken, a side of potato salad, a side of coleslaw, applesauce, and a roll and butter.

It was an exciting day in the Sabater Elementary School library as Mrs. Blough and Miss Priscopo read "My Mouth is a Volcano." The students learned about this month's Portrait of a Graduate competency, communication, and built their own volcanos in STEM stations. They also discussed how words can sometimes erupt from our mouths - just like lava from a volcano!
Wednesday was National Candy Corn Day! Mrs. Gonzalez’s third-grade and Mrs. Snitzel’s kindergarten classes at Rossi Elementary School enjoyed some fun activities together. First, they learned all about the history of this popular candy. Next, the third-grade students helped their little buddies by using the candy corn to count numbers. They also tried to see how many candy corn pieces they would need to fill a paper candy corn. Finally, the students were able to try the sweet treat. Mrs. Snitzel surveyed the students and teachers. By popular demand, it looks like the students loved the yellow, orange, and white sweet treat, unlike the teachers.
