Unit 2 in our 8th Grade ELA curriculum was focused on Sustainability. The students in Mr. Ecret's class were tasked with creating and planning what was needed to run a sustainable farm. In addition, they needed to write a grant proposal for said farm. Mr. Jamie Graiff of Dan Graiff Farms visited our class to discuss the "need-to-knows" of farming, specifically sustainable farming. He also helped the students with planning, organizing and writing their grant proposals. Once the grant proposals were complete Mr. Graiff read every proposal and picked 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners (pictured below) 1st Place: Strawberry Valley (LaTosha, Thanika and Yvonne) 2nd Place: NJ State Corn (Junior and Jesus) 3rd Place: Big Bell Farms (Nelianis, Evadaisy, Amirah and Alivia) Thank you Mr. Graiff/Graiff Farms for your help with this project!

In our current unit in Accelerated ELA we are reading Romeo and Juliet. After reading the famous balcony scene between Romeo and Juliet, my students were tasked with one of two projects: They could either create an instagram post representing the conversation while citing lines from the play or create vows for Romeo and Juliet's wedding following Shakespeare's Sonnet Style of writing. Here are the finished products. These kids did an AMAZING job and surpassed my expectations! I am so proud of their hard work!
